"La canción fue escrita justo hacia el final del siglo XX, momento de grandes expectativas, esperanzas y cambios que necesariamente deben producirse en la humanidad si realmente queremos trascender como especie y queremos dejar un 'planeta entero' para nuestros hijos y sus hijos.

En nuestros países latinoamericanos es muy común encontrar en las esquinas de la ciudad a niños que son empujados por su situación económica, social y/o familiar, a pedir limosna, a limpiar los parabrisas de los automóviles, a ser payasos de calle, a vender flores, etc., de tal forma que los ayude a llegar a sus casas con algo de dinero.

Diego es uno de esos niños que al vender sus flores, está pidiendo a gritos ayuda, una ayuda que se disfraza de económica que aún siendo muy cierta e importante, es solo la cascara de la verdadera pena que carga, conduciéndolo a tener una sabiduría de vida precoz.

Nuestro mundo es cada día más indiferente a este y otros muchos problemas que a todos nos atañen. 'Un Milenio Nuevo, Un Planeta Entero', simplemente es un canto de esperanza que pretende hacer claro, algo que ya lo es por si mismo, pero que nuestros egoísmos y ambiciones no nos dejan ver y por ende actuar. Solo quiero decir 'Basta' a la oscuridad que nos acerca día a día a nuestra autodestrucción.

La guerra no solo está en el campo de batalla, sino que en todas las calles del mundo todos los días."

Santiago Retti, compositor, arreglador y cantante, estudió Pedagogía en Educación Musical en la Universidad de Chile y Licenciatura en Música en la Universidad Católica de Chile. Paralelamente ha realizado estudios de Orquestación con maestros de reconocida trayectoria. Miembro de la Federación Internacional de Festivales F.I.D.O.F., Organización que Auspicia y enlaza Festivales Internacionales y Artistas de todo el mundoy Songlink Internacional, Editorial que enlaza Productores y Compositores de todo el mundo. En Chile es Miembro además de la Sociedad Chilena del Derecho de Autor (S.C.D.).

Artísticamente, nacido en "Sábados Gigantes”. Ha trabajado en musicalización de Teleseries, componiendo canciones para Temas Centrales de Canal 13 ("La Intrusa” con la canción de su autoría e interpretación “Mágica en la Sombra”; “Matilde Dedos Verdes”).

Permanentemente además, desarrolla actividades como Productor, Compositor y Arreglador para otros artistas del ámbito Nacional (Gloria Simonetti, Claudia Muñoz, entre otros) e Internacional (Riccardo Fogli, Alessandro Canino, Stephan Guevara, STS, entre otros).

Actualmente, se encuentra preparando su Producción, con la idea de ser presentada a Editoriales y Sellos Discográficos interesados tanto en Chile como en Italia, la que incluirán versiones a dúo con el famoso artista italiano Riccardo Fogli y Alessandro Canino.

Ganador de diversos Festivales

Ha sido ganador de diversos Festivales tanto nacionales como a nivel Internacional en donde ha representado a Chile, entre los que destacan:

- Finalista OTI Nacional 1988
- Festival de Viña del Mar 1995
- Festival Internacional de Tahiti (1. LUGAR - MEJOR INTERPRETE) 1991.
- Festival LatinoAmericano de la Canción de California EEUU (1. LUGAR) 1993
- UNISONG (EEUU) Ganador Categoría Latina 1997-1998
- Festival Voice of Asia en Kazakstan (Ex_URSS) (MEJOR INTERPRETE Premio TV) 1999.

a new millenium - a whole planet

"The song "A New milennium, a complete planet", was written shortly before the close of the 20th century, a moment associated with big expectations, hope and changes, changes that must be brought about by humanity itself - if we really want to have "a whole planet" for our children and their children.

In the dark corners of the cities of our Latin-American countries, children who depend on other people's charity are a common sight; they beg for alms, perform as street clowns, wash the windscreens of cars, sell flowers etc. because of their families' economic and social plight, thus providing a little money for a living.

"Diego" is one of these children who, when crying at the top of his voice to sell his flowers, at the same time cries for help. His activities are accompanied by an immense sadness that he has to bear, and that forces upon him a precocious wisdom of life.

Our world is becoming more and more indifferent towards these and other problems which concern us all. "A new Millenium - a complete planet" simply is a song of hope. It wants to make us aware of the fact that we do not want to perceive, and act against, this misery - for all our selfishness and ambition. I want to say "Enough!" to this darkness , which, from day to day, is taking us closer to self-destruction.

War is not present on the battlefield only but on every street in the world every day.

Santiago Retti, composer, arranger, and singer, studied pedagogy and musical education at the University of Chile and took his music diploma at the Catholic University of Chile. At the same time he attended orchestration courses held by recognised "maestros". He is a member of the international festival organisation F.I.D.O.F, , which patronises and organises international festivals and works with artists from all over the world. He is also a member of Songlink Internacional, an editorial body, which presents a platform to producers and composers all over the world, and of Chile's music rights society, SCD.

Artistically, his roots lie in a group called "Sábados Giantes". He has written music for tv serials, e.g. for Chile's Canal 13 ("La Intrusa", with Mágica en la Sombra", a song he also performed himself, and "Matilde Dedos Verdes")

He is permanently ínvolved in activities as a producer, composer and arranger for other national (Gloria Simonetti, Claudia Muñoz) and international artists (Riccardo Fogli, Alessandro Canino, Stephan Guevara, STS).

At present, he is preparing for a new production, which includes the recording of a duet performed with the famous Italian artists Riccardo Fogli and Alessandro Canino. This project will be presented to music editors both in Chile and Italy.

Ein neues Milennium - ein ganzer Planet

"Das Lied "Ein neues Millennium, ein ganzer Planet", wurde genau gegen Ende des XX Jahrhunderts geschrieben. Ein Augenblick mit grossen Erwartungen, Hoffnungen und Wechsel, die unbedingt in der Menschheit stattfinden müssen, falls wir tatsächlich als Spezies überleben und für unsere Kinder und Kindeskinder einen "ganzen Planeten" zurücklassen wollen.

In unseren lateinamerikanischen Ländern ist es üblich, Straßenkinder zu finden, die aus wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und/oder familiären Gründen, betteln, die Scheiben der Autos reinigen, als Clown wirken, Blumen verkaufen usw., damit sie etwas Geld nach Hause mitnehmen können.

Eines dieser Kinder ist Diego , der gewissermaßen mit dem Blumenverkauf aus vollem Hals um Hilfe schreit. Obwohl diese wirtschaftliche Hilfe für ihn sehr wichtig ist, versteckt sich dahinter ein massloses Leid, das er tragen muss und das ihm zur Frühreife zwingt.

Unsere Welt wird diesen und anderen Problemen, die uns allen betreffen, gegenüber immer gleichgültiger. "Ein neues Millennium, ein ganzer Planet", ist einfach ein Lied der Hoffnung, die klarmachen will, dass wir aus Egoismus und Ergeiz dieses Leid nicht sehen wollen und deshalb nichts dagegen unternehmen. Ich will dieser Dunkelheit, die uns täglich der Selbstzerstörung näher bringt, einfach "es ist genug" sagen.

Krieg findet nicht nur auf dem Schlachtfeld, sondern jeden Tag auf jeder Straße dieser Welt statt."
