In 1998, all authors organized in music rights societies, i.e. musicians from 124 countries all over the world, were invited to "compose original songs inspired by the theme of peace".

The contest announcement was published by all international music rights societies as well as its own internet site and official sites connected with the Jubilee Year 2000.

In a diligent selection process, a high-ranking international jury chose the 22 winning songs from a large number of entries from 60 countries all over the world.

A final concert and a tv broadcast formed part of the official Millenium Jubilee programme. SMT collaborated with UNESCO, UNICEF, Adopt-a-minefield, and with personalities like Hal Uplinger, who was on the organising staff of the famous Live Aid Concert.

Due to unforeseen organisational circumstances the Millenium concert was cancelled. Efforts continued until 2003 when a final attempt to stage it in Hungary failed.

A promotional CD featuring the 22 winning songs was published in 2002 and presented at WOMEX ESSEN / GERMANY.

We gladly cooperate with other organisations and institutions dedicated to the issue of peace. Our songs have been added to the materials hosted by the Dayton Peace Museum, and the Bridgepeace Organisation has for quite some time been referring to part of our authors and songs.

This site, which keeps counting a considerable number of visitors, may also offer further songwriters - and perhaps also writers of prose and poetry a chance to draw attention to their work on behalf of the issues of peace and tolerance.

So authors outside the project are invited and encouraged to submit concise and correct information on themselves and their work. Should a contribution be considered appropriate by the FORUM BOARD (Vince Pace, Dario Schepisi, Eric De Sena, Juergen Schroeder) we will contact the contributor for further details and subsequently place a LINK below. The applicant will be held responsible for any change of content, and the LINK may be removed any time.
